MARKETHILL High School has launched its new school website to showcase the high quality learning and teaching at the school as well as to document its ongoing drive for a New Build and Sixth Form.
The school obtained record results in August with over 9 out of every 10 pupils achieving 5 or more GCSEs at A*-C or equivalent. Additionally, the school enrolled its highest number of pupils ever in September. With 516 pupils, it now becomes the biggest non-selective Controlled school in the Armagh, Banbridge and Newry City Centre areas.
Mr Maxwell said the aim of the website was to showcase school news and achievements, combined with the very latest news in learning and teaching.
“It is the clear drive and vision of this school that every child – by 2018 – will be attaining 5 or more GCSE passes or equivalent at A*-C. It is this drive which focuses all our efforts in school. Our pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum which will include the offer of Triple Award Science at GCSE from September 2017. Parents and stakeholders can keep informed of the school’s growing curriculum offer on the new website.”
Mr Maxwell said: “The website celebrates the school’s ongoing pursuit of high quality learning and teaching, as evidenced most recently in our revised Learning and Teaching Policy which can be accessed from the very front page. Additionally, in upcoming weeks the Governors will publish their Annual Review to Parents. This will be a very positive snapshot of the school’s current performance level”.
“This year is a real milestone for us as we are now over the 500 pupil threshold. Markethill High School has for years been delivering outstanding education for all of our pupils. The community aspect of our website is therefore very important to us, and the website includes an alumni section for past pupils. The community spirit remains a constant and unshifting element embedded within the history and future of our school. T
elling the story of our school matters, and our new website is the perfect platform to engage with the community and spread our good news.
“Pupils, parents and the wider community can enjoy our new website by visiting www.markethillhighschool.net for the latest news and updates.”
