More silverware for the school as the Choir brings home two fine trophies from the Portadown Music F

On Tuesday 19th April, the school Choir took part in the annual Portadown Festival. They were entered for two categories - the first, competing for the Ethna McLaughlin Memorial Cup in a class for School Choirs aged 11-16, for which the songs 'Skyfall' and 'Somebody To Love' were performed; and the second was for the Best Trophy, a category for girls' choirs of any ages where two sacred songs were to be sung, and for which 'Jesus Christ (Once Again)' and 'Fill Me With Your Spirit' were selected.

The Choir performed extremely well in both sections, achieving 86 marks (Highly Commended) in the first competition, and 87 marks (Distinction) in the second. The Choir was placed first each time, and as a group everyone was delighted to be presented with the trophies at the end of the afternoon.

The Choir have been working very hard throughout the year, performing at many events both in school and in the wider community, and these results from the Festival have seemed like an appropriate reward for all the endeavours, and should give the singers great confidence for next year's work.
