Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance

Provision for Careers Education, Information Advice and Guidance is a focus for every pupil.  Preparation for steps beyond Markethill High is important and an understanding of the world of work is facilitated at each Key Stage.  The school works in partnership with a number of agencies to understand the concepts of employability and entrepreneurship.

Years 8, 9 and 10 pupils are timetabled for Employability within LLW.  Pupils follow a programme of Careers Guidance in Years 10 – 12.  In Year 10 advice is given on the choice of subjects for Key Stage 4 for both parents and pupils.  The Careers Officer from the Training and Employment Agency visits the school on a regular basis to discuss career opportunities with individual pupils in Year 12.  Year 11 pupils undertake a week's work experience in June.

In the past few years:

  • a new Careers library has been established;

  • evening information sessions have been held for parents and pupils in Year 12;

  • an interview skills day has been developed for Year 12 pupils
