GCSE Science: Double Award
This examination is aimed at able candidates who may wish to take ‘A’ levels in any of the three science subjects.
The course is comprised of 6 units, altogether worth 75%. The remaining 25% is for practical skills.
Each tier of entry is aimed at a particular level of ability. GCSE grades will be awarded as follows:
Foundation Tier: CC - GG Higher Tier: A*A* - DD
Candidates are awarded a pair of grades which are equivalent to two GCSEs. GCSE Single Award (Modular)
This examination is aimed at pupils who do not wish to take ‘A’ levels in any of the three Science subjects.
The course consists of 6 modules which are assessed through end of module tests. These are worth 75% in total.
Module A - Staying Alive Module B - Human Activity and health Module C - Chemical Patterns and Our Environment Module D - Materials and Their Management Module E - Electricity, Waves and Communications Module F - Road Safety, Radioactivity and Earth in Space
Practical Skills - 25% There are 2 tiers of entry:
Foundation: Grades C - G Higher: Grades A* - D |
