In Years 11 and 12 Maths is compulsory as a GCSE subject. Pupils in A1 or A2 can choose Additional Maths as a further GCSE option, should they wish.

The following table details tiers of entry for this examination and grades available when units are combined as specified below:

GCSE Additional Mathematics
Additional Mathematics as its name implies means more mathematics. It is designed to broaden the mathematical experience of high attaining candidates. These candidates may or may not continue their study of Mathematics to advanced level or (advanced) science level.
Topics already studied are considered in more depth and Calculus, Logarithms, Trigonometry, Statistics and Mechanics are introduced.
In general this course is aimed for the better mathematicians and those candidates who do not attain a Level 7 in the KS3 examinations would be strongly advised to consider other subjects.
